Troubleshooting: Connecting Your New IP Phone

Troubleshoot your Unitel Voice Yealink IP phone setup. Learn how to connect T57W, T34W, and W70B/W73H devices, check Ethernet and power connections, fix registration issues, and get your Office Plan phone working.

Having trouble connecting your new Unitel Voice IP phone? Follow these steps to make sure your device is properly connected to your network and ready to make and receive calls.

Step 1: Connect Your IP Phone

For Yealink T57W and T34W desk phones:

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable: Plug one end into the port labeled Internet on your Yealink phone and the other end into your router or network switch.

  2. Connect the power: Plug the power adapter into your phone and an electrical outlet, unless you're using Power over Ethernet (PoE).

  3. Wait for startup: Your phone will power on, connect to the network, and attempt to register with Unitel Voice.

Important: Some desk phones have two Ethernet ports. Be sure to use the Internet port, not the PC port.

Step 2: Allow Your Phone to Complete Setup

When connecting your IP phone for the first time, it may need to download its configuration and install updates.

  • Initial startup typically takes a few minutes.

  • Your phone may automatically restart one or more times.

  • Do not disconnect the phone while it's updating or restarting.

Once the phone has successfully registered, it should be ready to make and receive calls.

Step 3: Troubleshoot Connection Issues

If your phone isn't connecting, try these steps:

  1. Check your internet connection: Make sure your router or network is working properly.

  2. Check the Ethernet cable: Confirm it's securely connected to the correct port on your phone and router or network switch.

  3. Check the power: Make sure the phone is receiving power from its adapter or PoE connection.

  4. Restart your phone: Disconnect the power, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect it. If using PoE, disconnect and reconnect the Ethernet cable.

  5. Allow the phone to reconnect: Wait a few minutes for the device to restart and register.

Using a Yealink W70B Cordless Phone System?

If you're using a Yealink W70B base station with a W73H cordless handset:

  1. Connect the W70B base station to your router or network switch using an Ethernet cable.

  2. Connect the base station to power, unless using PoE.

  3. Make sure your W73H handset is charged and powered on.

  4. Allow the base station to connect to the network.

Your cordless handset must also be registered to the W70B base station to make and receive calls.
