Troubleshooting: IP Phone Will Not Power On

Fix a Yealink IP phone that won't power on or has a blank screen. Troubleshoot power adapters, PoE connections, Ethernet cables, and charging issues for Unitel Voice T57W, T34W, and W70B/W73H phones.

If your Unitel Voice Yealink IP phone won't turn on, has a blank screen, or appears to have no power, follow these troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve the issue.

Step 1: Check the Power Connection

Yealink T57W and T34W desk phones can receive power through a power adapter or Power over Ethernet (PoE).

If using a power adapter:

  1. Make sure the adapter is securely connected to your phone and an electrical outlet.

  2. Try plugging the adapter into a different outlet.

  3. Check that you're using the correct power adapter for your phone.

If using Power over Ethernet (PoE):

  1. Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the phone's Internet port.

  2. Verify that the other end is connected to a PoE-enabled network switch or PoE injector.

  3. Try another Ethernet cable or a known working PoE port, if available.

Important: A standard Ethernet connection does not automatically provide power. Your network equipment must support PoE, or you'll need a compatible power adapter.

Step 2: Restart Your IP Phone

If the phone still won't power on:

  1. Disconnect the power adapter or PoE Ethernet cable.

  2. Wait approximately 10 seconds.

  3. Reconnect the power source.

  4. Check whether the phone starts up.

Step 3: Troubleshoot Your Yealink W70B/W73H Cordless Phone

If you're using a Yealink W70B base station with a W73H cordless handset, check both devices separately.

W70B Base Station:

  1. Verify that the base station is connected to a working power source or PoE connection.

  2. Check the indicator lights on the base station.

  3. If no lights appear, try another compatible power source or PoE connection.

W73H Cordless Handset:

  1. Place the handset in its charging cradle.

  2. Make sure the cradle is connected to power.

  3. Allow the handset to charge for at least 30 minutes.

  4. Press and hold the handset's power/end-call button to turn it on.

If the handset still won't turn on, check that the battery is properly installed.
