Setup 7: Single User - No Greeting - Forward to Your Phone Number

Best for simple forwarding without any features, or solo users who do not want a greeting and prefer calls forwarded directly to their phone number (no app, no team).

Overview

In this setup, your Unitel Voice number will forward incoming calls directly to your phone number.

Your Unitel Voice service comes preconfigured with the following default setup:

  • Your Employee Extension is automatically configured to ring the Unitel Voice mobile app.

  • Department Extension 0 is automatically configured to forward to your Employee Extension.

The setup involves three main steps:

  1. Forward Employee Extension 700 to your phone number

  2. Forward your Unitel Voice number to Employee Extension 700

  3. Change your On-Hold Music to Ringtone

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you’re simply looking to forward calls to another number—and that number already has voicemail and handles everything—you likely do not need to use Unitel Voice voicemail. However, if you’re forwarding calls to your cell phone and want callers to hear a professional business greeting (instead of your personal voicemail), then you should use Unitel Voice voicemail.

Step 1: Forward Employee Extension 700 to Your Phone Number

1. Adjust Employee Extension 700's Forwarding Settings

  1. Select Extensions.

  2. Select Edit on Employee Extension 700

  3. Under Services, you can manage how calls are handled.

    Set your service to:

    • Mobile App - OFF

    • Forwarding - ON

    • Voicemail - ON*

*If you are using the Unitel Voice voicemail, leave the Voicemail toggle ON. If you do not want to use the Unitel Voice voicemail, turn the Voicemail toggle OFF.

  4. Under Forwarding Settings, select Edit on the default forwarding number.

  5. Enter a Name and adjust the phone number if needed

  6. Adjust Ring time to either 15 seconds or 60 seconds

    1. If you want to use the Unitel Voice voicemail option, use 15 seconds.

    2. If you do not want to use the Unitel Voice voicemail option, and your phone number already has voicemail, adjust the ring time to 60 seconds.

  7. Scroll down, and Click OK.

    1. Note: Leave Active hours set to 'Always' (This is only for very specific setups)

    2. Note: Leave Announcement type set to Unannounced (This is only for very specific setups)

2. Configure Voicemail

If you plan to use Unitel Voice voicemail, follow the steps below.
If not, you can skip this section.

  1. Under the Voicemail settings section, select Custom to record or upload your voicemail greeting.

    You have three options:

Option 1: Use our systems recording tool

Option 2: Upload an audio file

Tip: For better audio editing control, you may record greetings using:

    • Voice Memos (iPhone)

    • Voice Recorder (Android)

Option 3: Use Voice Talent Studio (AI voice talent in 1 business day, or Human voice talent in 3-5 business days)

There you can order professional recordings for:

    • Main greeting

    • Department voicemail greetings

    • After-hours greetings

Pro Tip: We recommend using our built-in recording tool or uploading an audio file to get a greeting up and running right away. Then, visit our Voice Talent Studio to order a professionally recorded greeting—we’ll have it ready and uploaded for you within just a few days.

  2. Select Copy to activate voicemail notifications. Then enter the email address where you wish to receive voicemail messages.

3. Save the Extension

  1. Go to the Other options section

  2. Adjust the timezone if necessary.

  3. Click Save.

Step 2: Forward your Unitel Voice Number to Employee Extension 700

By default, the Unitel Voice service forwards callers to a main greeting. We'll need to change this to forward directly to Employee Extension 700.

1. Navigate to Phone Numbers

  1. Go to Settings and then select Phone Numbers.

2. Edit Phone Number Settings

  1. Select Transfer to extension, it will automatically save.

  2. Confirm it is set to Ext 700.

Step 3: Change On-Hold Music to Ringtone

We want callers to hear a ringtone as the call forwards to your phone number.

1. Navigate to Music On Hold

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Select Music on hold.

  3. Select Ringtone.

The settings will automatically save.

✅ Setup Complete

Your phone system will now:

  • Forward callers directly to your Phone Number
