Welcome to the Unitel Voice Texting App! This app allows you to send and receive business text messages using your Unitel Voice phone number.
Important: The Unitel Voice Texting App is only for text messaging. Continue using the Unitel Voice app for making and receiving phone calls.
Important Things to Know
Messages are sent from your Unitel Voice business phone number, not your personal cell phone number.
This app currently supports 1-to-1 text messaging only.
Images and attachments (MMS) are not yet supported.
Group messaging is not currently supported.
We recommend only one person be logged into an account at a time.

Logging In
Your login credentials were emailed to you during setup.
If you did not receive your login information, please contact Unitel Voice Support.
Important: Do not use the QR Code displayed on the login screen. This feature is reserved for future functionality and is not currently supported. Please log in using your assigned username and password.
Required Permissions
When prompted, we recommend allowing ALL requested permissions to ensure the app functions properly.
Contacts
The Contacts permission allows the app to display the contacts already saved on your device.
Unitel Voice does not upload, store, or access your contacts outside of your phone. This permission is only used to display your existing contacts inside the app.
Notifications
Allow notifications so you can receive alerts when new text messages arrive, even when the app is not open.
Microphone
Microphone access is only used if you choose to use your phone's built-in voice-to-text (dictation) feature while composing a message.
Verify You're Connected
After logging in, your Unitel Voice phone number appears in the upper-left corner of the app.
🟢 Green = Registered and ready to send and receive messages.
If your phone number is not green, your account is not properly registered.
If your phone number is not green, please contact Unitel Voice Support.
Sending Text Messages
There are three ways to send a message.
Option 1: Reply to an Existing Conversation
If someone has already texted your business number:
Tap the Messages icon.
Select the conversation.
Type your message in the Type a message field.
Tap the Send arrow.
Note: Do not use the paperclip attachment icon. Images and attachments are not currently supported.
Option 2: Send a Message to an Existing Contact
Tap the Contacts icon.
Locate the contact.
Tap the Message icon next to their name.
Type your message.
Tap the Send arrow.

Option 3: Send a Message to a New Phone Number
If the person is not already a contact and has never texted your business number before:
Note: We know this workflow isn't as intuitive as we'd like. We're working to improve it in a future update.
Tap the Messages icon.
Tap the New Message (pencil) icon.
Select 1-to-1 Chat.
Do not select "Create Group." This feature is not currently supported.
Tap the Search (magnifying glass) icon.
Enter the phone number in the search field.
Tap the phone number that appears.
Type your message.
Tap the Send arrow.
Note: Do not use the paperclip attachment icon. Images and attachments are not currently supported.
Business Texting Compliance
To remain compliant with business texting regulations, Unitel Voice strongly recommends sending the following message the first time you text with a customer:
[YOUR COMPANY NAME]: Thanks for joining. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time or HELP for assistance.
Pro Tip
After sending this message once, you can easily copy and paste or forward it into future conversations.
Current Limitations
Images & Attachments (MMS)
Sending and receiving images or attachments is not currently supported.
Please do not use the paperclip attachment icon.

Group Messaging
Only 1-to-1 messaging is currently supported.
Although the app displays a Create Group option, this feature is not active.
Always select 1-to-1 Chat when starting a new conversation.
Deleting Conversations
Conversation threads cannot currently be deleted.
This functionality is planned for a future update.
Auto Replies
Automatic replies are not currently supported.
This feature may be added in a future release.

Character Limits
The Unitel Voice Texting App uses standard SMS messaging.
Standard SMS character limits apply. Longer messages may automatically be broken into multiple text messages depending on the recipient's wireless carrier.
Failed Messages
If a message cannot be delivered, it will display a triangle with an exclamation point (!) next to the message.
If a message repeatedly fails to send:
Verify you have an internet connection.
Confirm your phone number is green.
Try sending the message again.
If the issue continues, contact Unitel Voice Support.
STOP Messages
If a customer replies STOP, our messaging network will automatically prevent future outbound messages to that customer in accordance with business texting regulations.
Do not attempt to continue messaging customers who have opted out unless they later opt back in.
Refreshing the App
Normally, refreshing the app should not be necessary.
If messages are not updating:
Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the upper-right corner.
Select Refresh.
NOTE: You can only find the Refresh option when from the Contacts icon.
Logging Out
To log out:
Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the upper-right corner.
Select Settings.
Tap Reset Application.
Logging out will stop the app from receiving new messages until you log back in.
Note: You do not need to keep the app open to receive text messages. As long as you remain logged in and notifications are enabled, you'll continue receiving push notifications when new messages arrive.
Tips
Leave notifications enabled so you never miss a message.
You do not need to keep the app open to receive text messages.
Save your business texting compliance message somewhere convenient so you can quickly copy and paste it into new conversations.
If messages don't appear immediately, try using Refresh from the three-dot menu.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same app I use for phone calls?
No. The Unitel Voice Texting App is only for text messaging. Continue using the standard Unitel Voice app for voice calls.
What phone number will my customers see?
Your customers will see your Unitel Voice business phone number, not your personal mobile phone number.
Can I send pictures or attachments?
Not yet.
Image and multimedia messaging (MMS) is expected to be available after August 1, 2026.
Can I receive pictures?
Not yet.
Receiving multimedia messages (MMS) is not currently supported.

Can I send group messages?
No.

Can multiple employees use the same login?
We do not recommend it.
Sharing one login across multiple devices can interfere with push notifications and message synchronization. Because of this, Unitel Voice cannot provide support for issues caused by multiple simultaneous logins.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
Please contact Unitel Voice Support.
Password reset and password change functionality are not currently available.
Why isn't my phone number green?
Your account has not successfully registered with the messaging service.
Please contact Unitel Voice Support for assistance.
What happens if a customer replies STOP?
The messaging network will automatically prevent future outbound messages to that customer in compliance with business texting regulations.
Do I have to keep the app open to receive messages?
No.
As long as you remain logged in and have notifications enabled, you'll continue receiving push notifications even when the app is running in the background.
Why does the app ask for access to my contacts?
The app only reads the contacts already stored on your phone so it can display names instead of phone numbers.
Unitel Voice does not upload or store your contacts.
Why does the app ask for microphone access?
Microphone access is only used if you choose to use your phone's built-in voice-to-text (dictation) feature while typing a message.
What does the triangle with the exclamation point mean?
It means the message failed to send.
Check your internet connection, verify your phone number is green, and try again. If the issue persists, contact Unitel Voice Support.
How do I refresh the app?
Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the upper-right corner and select Refresh.
