Caller ID Display Settings for Incoming & Outbound Calls
Unitel Voice gives you several ways to manage how Caller ID appears for both incoming forwarded calls and outbound business calls.
You can choose to see your business number on forwarded calls, display your Unitel Voice number when calling others, and better separate personal calls from business calls.
Identify Business Calls on Incoming Forwarded Calls
If calls are forwarded to your personal cell phone, you may want a quick way to know whether the call is personal or from your business line.
Recommended Option: Use the Unitel Voice App
The Unitel Voice app is the easiest way to separate personal and business calls.
Benefits
Business calls ring directly inside the app
See the caller’s number clearly
Make outbound calls showing your business number
Keep personal and business calls separate
If you use the app, changing Caller ID settings is usually unnecessary.
Change Caller ID Display for Forwarded Calls
If you forward calls to your personal phone, you can choose what appears on your screen.
Available Caller ID Options
Caller’s Number (Default)
Your phone displays the actual caller’s phone number.
Unitel Voice Number
Your phone displays your Unitel Voice business number instead.
This helps you instantly recognize business calls.
How to Change It
Go to Settings > Phone numbers
Click Edit next to the number
Locate Call Preferences section
Choose your preferred option
Click Save
Make Outbound Calls Showing Your Business Number
There are two ways to place outbound calls while showing your Unitel Voice number.
Option 1: Use the Unitel Voice App
Calls made through the app automatically display your business number.
Option 2: Use Dial-Out
Dial-Out lets you place business calls from an approved phone.
How It Works
Authorize your cell phone as a Dial-Out number
Call your Unitel Voice access number
Follow prompts to place the call
The recipient will see your Unitel Voice number as the Caller ID.
Want Your Business Name to Appear Too?
To display your business name + phone number, you must add CNAM service.
Important Notes
CNAM is not supported on toll-free numbers
Some carriers display names differently
Why Is a Strange Number Appearing Instead?
If your Caller ID is set to show your Unitel Voice number but you see an unfamiliar number, Call Announcement is likely enabled.
Why This Happens
When Call Announcement is on, the system may temporarily replace Caller ID with a generated routing number.
Example: 020387941700
Often the last digits represent the extension selected by the caller.
Example
Ending in 700 may indicate Extension 700
Ending in 3 may indicate Extension 3
How to Fix It
Option 1: Keep Call Announcement Enabled
Use this if you like hearing a prompt before answering business calls.
Option 2: Turn Off Call Announcement
Disable Call Announcement in your extension settings if you prefer seeing your Unitel Voice number instead.
Helpful Tip
Save recurring system numbers in your contacts so you recognize them more easily.
