Managing Your Phone Numbers In Unitel Voice

Manage your phone number settings. Edit call routing, caller ID, fax preferences, and tags under Settings > Your Numbers.

Important: Before changing phone number settings, it helps to understand how calls are routed through your system. If needed, review your call flow setup first.

Where to Manage Your Numbers

Log in to your account and go to:

Settings > Your Numbers

From this section, you can:

  • Edit call routing

  • Change caller ID behavior

  • Manage fax delivery settings

  • Add tags for tracking

  • Add new numbers to your account


How to Edit a Number

  1. Go to Settings > Your Numbers

  2. Find the phone number you want to update

  3. Click Edit

This opens the settings menu for that number.


Phone Number Settings Explained

Call Routing Options

Choose how calls to that number should be handled. Options are either Play My Main Greeting, or Transfer to Extension


Play My Main Greeting

Calls ring into your main greeting / menu first.

Best for:

  • Main business numbers

  • Callers who need menu options

  • General incoming calls

  • Must be used if you want to use Unitel Voice inbound fax

Transfer to Extension

Calls skip the main greeting and go directly to an employee or department extension.

Best for:

  • Direct lines to cell phone, landline, external office line, etc.

  • Dedicated support or sales numbers


Caller ID Options

Choose what appears on your cell phone when calls are forwarded. Options include either Caller's Number or Your Unitel Voice Number


1. Caller’s Number

Displays the original caller’s phone number.


2. Your Unitel Voice Number

Displays your business number instead.

Tip: Save your Unitel Voice number in your contacts so you recognize business calls.


Call Notification Settings

The Call Notification Settings in the Your Numbers section are used for incoming fax notifications only.

These settings do not control voicemail notifications. Voicemail notification preferences are managed separately within each Employee Extension or Department Extension.

Use this section to choose how received faxes are handled, including whether faxes are emailed to you, stored in your Inbox, both, or neither.


Copy (Recommended)

  • Fax saved in the Unitel Voice Inbox

  • Fax emailed as PDF

  • Stored in Inbox for 60 days

Notify

  • Fax stored in Inbox

  • Email alert/notification sent

  • No PDF attached

Forward

  • Fax emailed as PDF

  • Not stored in Unitel Voice Inbox

None

  • No email notifications

  • No stored fax delivery

Notification Email

This is the email address where fax notifications are sent.


Other Options

Time Zone

Used for:

  • Accurate call logs

  • Correct business hours timing

  • After-hours greeting schedules

Music on Hold

Choose to:

  • Use built-in hold music

  • Upload your own file

  • Disable music

Changes may take up to 2 minutes.


Number Tags

Use tags to label phone numbers for tracking.

Examples:

  • Google Ads

  • Website

  • Sales Campaign

  • Support Line

Tags help identify where calls are coming from.
