Default Greetings

Explains default system greetings and how to replace them.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

When your phone system is first set up, it comes with pre-loaded, generic greetings so your system is ready to handle calls right away.

What’s Included by Default

Your system automatically includes:

  • A Main Greeting (for incoming calls during business hours)

  • An After-Hours Greeting (for calls outside your business hours)

  • A Voicemail Greeting for each Extension, including:

    • Employee Extensions

    • Department Extensions

These default greetings are simple, professional, and designed to work out of the box.

Customizing Your Greetings

You can replace any default greeting with your own at any time using one of the following options:

  • Record directly using our built-in recording tool

  • Upload an audio file (e.g., MP3 or WAV)

  • Use our Voice Studio for a professionally recorded greeting

Important: Saving Your Greetings

Once you activate a new greeting:

  • The previous greeting is permanently deleted from the system

  • It cannot be recovered

  • Note: Previous versions of the Unitel Voice Phone System allowed users to save multiple greetings and switch between them. This functionality is no longer available.

We strongly recommend saving any audio files you may want to reuse before replacing a greeting.

Want to Use the Default Greetings Again?

If you’d like to reuse the original default greetings:

  • We’ve included them as downloadable files in this article

  • You can simply re-upload them to your system at any time
