How does toll free text messaging work?

Toll-free texting lets customers message your business using your toll-free number, with replies managed via email or dashboard.

Updated over 2 months ago

Toll-free text messaging allows businesses to send and receive SMS and MMS messages using their toll-free numbers. Customers can text your toll-free number from their cell phones, and you can manage these messages through email or an online dashboard.

How It Works:

  1. Customer Sends a Text: A customer sends an SMS or MMS to your toll-free number.

  2. Message Delivery:

    • Email: The text is converted into an email and sent to your designated notification email address.

    • Online Dashboard: Alternatively, you can access the message through Unitel Voice's texting dashboard.

  3. Your Response:

    • Email Reply: Respond directly to the email, and your reply is sent back to the customer as a text from your toll-free number.

    • Dashboard Reply: Use the online dashboard to reply, and the customer receives your message as a text.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced Customer Engagement: Provides customers with a convenient way to communicate with your business.

  • Improved Support Efficiency: Allows for quick responses to customer inquiries via text.

  • Marketing Opportunities: Enables promotions where customers can text your toll-free number to receive discounts or participate in giveaways.

Getting Started:

To enable toll-free text messaging with Unitel Voice:

  1. Sign Up: Visit the Toll-Free Texting Sign-Up page and complete the form.

  2. Activation: After submitting the form, activation typically takes 7-10 business days.

  3. Manage Messages: Once activated, choose to manage your messages via email or the online dashboard.

By leveraging toll-free text messaging, businesses can enhance customer interactions, streamline support processes, and explore new marketing avenues.
